What is a Typical Ketamine Experience Like?

You’ll begin your journey with a referral to my trusted partner, Better U. They will screen and diagnose your eligibility for ketamine treatment, ensuring it’s the right fit for your needs. Once approved, Better U will provide your medication, and I will work with you to integrate these treatments into your personalized psychotherapy plan.
Your initial dosing sessions are designed to help you acclimate to the effects of ketamine. The medication will be delivered to your home, and you’ll bring it to the office for in-person dosing or plan a session via Telehealth. Each treatment is carefully optimized for the most effective and supportive experience.
During the session, the medication isn’t swallowed—it’s gently swished in your mouth for 10–15 minutes before being expelled. I will guide you through this process with a calming hypnosis induction to ensure your comfort. The psychedelic experience lasts approximately 20–50 minutes, and I will be present either in person or via Telehealth. If the session is remote, a sitter will be with you for support.
Every experience is unique and valid. Following your session, you’ll be encouraged to rest and avoid challenging or violent media for several hours to maintain a peaceful state of mind. Within a few days, we’ll have a follow-up appointment to reflect on your experience and continue working toward your goals with enhanced neuroplasticity.
The average dosing schedule includes 4–8 sessions, with adjustments based on your response and therapeutic goals. Each step of the process is designed to support your healing and growth.
